Highly recommended

Pieter removed two fruit trees for us during the height of the Coronavirus outbreak in spring 2020. His quote for the work was prompt, the appointment was made in a timely manner, he showed up at the scheduled time and completed the work quickly and efficiently leaving our garden neat and clean. It was a good job done safely and at a fair price. We would highly recommend Boomverzorging de Verwijdering tree service.

Great Overall Service

I’m a recent client whom Pieter has helped this week with our garden project. He has helped us to remove 1 full tree, pruning a big oak tree and also uprooting bamboo bushes. Pieter has done a great job in the garden, as well listening to our requests very closely. He provides updates throughout the process to ensure that we are satisfied with the progress. The fact that we are able to communicate in English was a great bonus for us. Overall great service and strongly recommended.

Splendid service with professional equipements!

Excellent work performed: fast, clean, and professional tree removal. With his bus, Pieter took away huge amount of branches, trunks, and leaves, which even seem having much bigger volume than the bus’ capacity. He has also professional equipments so that he can get the job done in a safe manner, no neighbor’s property (neither my property) in the garden was affected by during the whole process. I am very satisfied with this well done task.

Check if you need a permission in Leiden

Leiden has its own regulations regarding tree cutting and trimming. In some municipalities (Dutch: "gemeente") you can cut any of your trees without a permit. Unless the tree is on the protected tree list of your municipality. In other municipalities you need to apply for a permit for even the smallest of trees and the permit request alone can cost a lot of money.
Permit or not, you are always required to adhere to the dutch Environment Law (dutch: Omgevingswet). It aims to protect wildlife and nature in general. Mainly applicable to occupied bird nests or year round protected bird nests.

The municipal tree regulations can be found in the "Algemene Plaatselijk Verordening", or AVP in short, of your municipality.

Approaches to Tree Felling and Extraction

When dealing with trees over areas with limited clearance or vulnerable possessions, our strategy includes climbing, employing speed-lines, and using lowering ropes to remove the tree in manageable parts. The speed-line technique allows us to move branches to a secure location away from the tree. Climbing is the safest approach to ensure the protection of any valuables or property near the tree, providing a precise and controlled tree deconstruction. For total tree removal, climbing with spurs and a flip-line or lanyard is feasible, but for trimming, we do not use spurs to avoid damaging the tree and making it susceptible to diseases.
